120+ researchers attend cutting-edge structural studies regional symposium in Hangzhou, China

January 15, 2024 · Yunqi Campus, Westlake University
On January 15, 2024, over 120 researchers from top scientific institutions across Hangzhou and China gathered for the inaugural Structural Studies Regional Symposium, held at Westlake University Yunqi Campus, and jointly organized by Dr. Alexey Amunts (Westlake University), Dr. Miao Gui (Liangzhu Laboratory, Zhejiang University), and Dr. Long Zhou (School of Medicine, Zhejiang University).

The participants were a dynamic mix of undergraduate and graduate students, postdocs, full-time researchers, professors and leading principal investigators in the field of structural biology, where the focus of the symposium was to openly discuss ongoing and innovative research. The platform also provided an invaluable opportunity for young and emerging scientists to showcase their latest studies and scientific progress, as well as engage in meaningful discussions with peers to cultivate enhanced cooperation.

The 1-day event covered a range of topics including plant structural biology, filaments, membrane proteins, enzymes and grid preparation. As the first regional symposium of its kind, the organizers hope that the event will be a catalyst towards building up a vibrant community of like-minded researchers, pushing the boundaries of structural biology through collaboration and scientific discussion.

We would like to sincerely thank the investigators and staff at Westlake University School of Life Sciences, Liangzhu Laboratory and Zhejiang University School of Medicine for planning and organizing the event, and also extend our thanks to all the participants, without whom this fantastic event would not have been possible.
